Galveston District Water Management Projects


Flood risk management (FRM) is one of USACE Civil Work’s three core missions, alongside support for commercial navigation and restoration of aquatic ecosystems. USACE’s FRM activities seek to reduce the threat to life and property from riverine and coastal storm flooding. The map below shows the locations of the SWG FRM activities (projects).


Zoom in/out or pan on the map to view detailed project boundary. From the map layer control at the bottom right of the map above, toggle on or toggle off any layer.

If not already displayed on the map, turn on stream gages layer(or zoom out on the map) and then click on any stream gage symbol in the map and then hover mouse over the USGS Data link below the map to display a graphical presentation of the stream flow or Stage at that location. Also hover over the NWS Forecast link to view River flood Stage forecast for the corresponding stream location(if available).

The stream Gage stations and associated data displayed in the map above are from stream gages installed and managed by the United States Geological Survey(USGS) while River flood stage forecasts are from the National Weather Service.
